I damn near bid on that one a few times within the last 10 minutes - did not recognize any user names from p-f.
And the less than $350 closing price is/was ideal, eh?

But, your new one should be good to go if 03RN's experience with the same model translates to the one you picked up.
The canted front sight issue should be easy enough for S&W to correct.
Yeah, even with all my additions to my 66 it's a solid gun. I recently picked up some round to square ahrends for cheap and am looking for a 4” k frame to put them on that may retire my m19-3 to .38 status. I've seen some 19-9 or 66-8 that have gotten me to look at.

A 686 is a possibility but I just have so much k frame stuff I'd hate to expand.

For me, that was the driving factor between a new 66-8 and a new GP.100
If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.

The additions you've made to the 66 all make sense and it seems to be a really solid gun.

Ahrends stocks are really nice - just purchased/received a set of Retro Combat Boot Grips/round butt from a member here for a Model 10-8 HB/RB.

He'll still have to buy speedloaders.
