results may be posted until 11:59pm EDT on Monday 16-July-2012.

    Range: varies
    Target: 3x5 card
    Start position: concealed
    Rounds fired: varies

Pick a distance you can successfully draw and fire 2 rounds into a horizontal 3x5 card in under 5 sec.

On the buzzer, draw and fire two rounds to the 3x5 card. Record your time and the number of hits you got.

If successful, add 1 yd to the distance from the target and repeat.

Keep running the drill (two hits in under 5 sec) and adding distance after each successful completion until you either miss the target or exceed the time limit.

Please report the following when responding to this thread:

I decided to push the accuracy envelope (for me at least) by starting at 15 yards and shooting this cold.

Start position: Gen3 G34, in a Keeper, under a closed front shirt
Start distance and time: 15 yards, 2.80 seconds
Last distance and time: 16 yards, 3.17 seconds

    Raw data:

    15 yards: 2.80 seconds
    16 yards: 3.17 seconds
17 yards: 3.61 seconds, missed one.
    Over.

    The target:

Continued shooting and pushing the 3x5 further out after failing out of the DotW proper.

Some misses, but for me, it wasn't bad.

Jumped the 3x5 all the way to 25 yards, and with a few reps of 'trying to take my time', wasn't hitting it.

Last rep, shot it the way that felt right, firing when my eyes, finger, and mind were ready, and shot 1.57, 90 = 2.47 clean.

Couldn't use the timer for anything other than start and par time signals - too much noise coming from other lanes. In addition, my range has no yardage, 5 feet marks up close and 10 feet marks further out are used instead. I ran this twice, cold and in a middle of the session.

Run # 1: 21 feet, 25 feet, 2 more positions between 25 and 35 feet, 35 feet all clean and under par, miss at approx 40 feet.
Run # 2: barely made it to 45 feet (clipped the edge of the target on one shot), and then miss at about 50.

P30 LEM in Kolbeson Texas Comfort AIWB under a shirt.

    Food for personal thought:
    - the shirt, as in one with buttons in the front, is quite a bit harder to draw from under than T-shirt;
    - 35 feet and further on 3x5 I am not sure the pressout gets me a better results than just aiming and then pressing; need to test this out with a timer.

Thanks, but an RDS equipped pistol is almost like cheating on shots past 15 yds:

I was short on time, so I went in three-yard increments instead of one.

You should take that gun to GSSF and compete in the Unlimited division. You might do very well.

Although the targets might be a little on the big side for your taste (8" circle), you would appreciate the incredibly gnarly penalties for dropped shots (and no make up shots most of the time, either.)

I am an old, slow, mediocre shooter--I'll leave it up to you fast younger guys to bring home the gold medal or prize pistol.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses to be sure, but the I don't think the above performance is anywhere near mediocre with regard to the aspects of shooting tested in this DotW.
