Glock Gen 5 G23 range reports

I am interested in anyone with a Gen 5 Glock 23 and how you like it.

    Love It

I only have 300 rounds through mine but I love it. So much softer shooting than what I remember my 23 from the 1990s.

The wider slide seems to make a difference. The trigger is typical Gen 5 good and mine is 100 percent reliable using a mix of hardball and HP at 300 rounds.

Will be putting another 300 through it this week thanks to the fact that I have a decent stash of 40 left.

    Good to hear, thank you.

Recoils very much like a G21, even with full power 165's.

I didn't see a shift in POI between bullet weights, though accuracy wise it seemed to prefer Winchester Bonded.

Because the slide is thick, hitting the slide lock lever with a thumb is more difficult.

The overall accuracy is typical Gen5, and the ejection pattern is uniform at 4-5 o'clock.

    Holster compatibility?

Wonder if it will work with SL ALS variants for Gen 1-4

Don’t think so. Last time I checked there was a new part number specific to Gen 5 .40 Glocks.

It would be interesting to see how it fit in Glock 21 holsters.

It is likely to fit a G38 holster.

My understanding is the Gen 5 .40S&W guns are basically using .45 GAP slides.

I’m thinking it might fit “good enough”.

Aren’t the GAP guns and .45 acp guns the same size in the slide? I think the Gen 5 .40 guns are in between the 17/22 and 21/37.

It could be that I’m totally wrong.

They could be close, but the G21 is a much bigger gun than the G17/G22.

The GAP guns were 9mm/.40S&W/.357SIG size guns with a thicker slide. That's what the new Gen 5 .40S&W guns are. Whether they are exactly the same as the GAP guns, I'm not sure, but I suspect they are closer to those than a G21.
