    Utah approves constitutional carry

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox signs law allowing concealed carry without a permit
The statute will go into effect in May
Gun owners who want a permit in order to take advantage of reciprocity laws in other states will still be able to obtain one.

Nice, way to go Utah of all states.

So do they still have to have a permit to open carry, or what?

Open carry never did require a permit... but without the CCW, it had to be "unloaded" (two actions away from firing: IE: carry with mag full, but chamber empty). A CCW basically made it so you could open carry loaded. Open carry isn't very common in the more populated parts of the state, but I do see it occasionally.

I'm not quite sure what the new law boils down to just yet... and I intend to keep a valid permit for reciprocity reasons.

I do view it as a step in the correct direction.

Wow, that’s crazy. Did the law ever “check” to see if anyone was ever open carrying with a round chambered?...lol. But yeah, there are some that think open carry is a good idea.

Here in Oklahoma as far as I know that’s different with a permit than not having one is being able to open or conceal carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol but other than that, the only reason I plan to renew my permit when it expires is just clearly for being able to carry outside of the state and being that since we live so close to the northern Texas border and shop down there quite regularly, our new constitutional carry doesn’t do us much good. Lol.

Excellent. In Oregon, on the other hand, we can carry hard drugs without permit. #unity FTMFW!
