Thread: Maryland Shooting

Thanks for the update Gator. Reading the report it sure looks bad for the wife and brother. They had serious warning signs something was not right but didn't act until it was too late.

I would be curious if the autopsy report @Mas inquired about would show any brain abnormalities. I have heard of people involved in accidents that the frontal lobe impacted the skull and the person's behavior changed significantly afterwards. That or possible pain medication may be factors in his behavior and soaking up rounds with almost no concern.

FWIW the linked pdf says "Furthermore, the toxicology on Costlow came back negative for the presence of drugs or
alcohol.". I didn't see it address your other questions.

Man, how bizarre and ultimately tragic. Clean tox, and a decent family guy. His obit has a tribute wall where one can use the posts to gain a glimpse into a life that did not at all appear to be on track to end the way it did. Weird.

The brain does weird things. There was a guy who went cabin pressure changed in a plane went absolutely bat shit violent. Something pressed on one of the emotional control centers. Pressure returned to normal and he was Ok. Another decent guy had a tumor that caused him to become a rabid, child porn fanatic. It was removed and he stopped. It returned and it was back to the porn. Used those cases in a class discussion of free will - do we really have it?

Something along these lines seems to be one working hypothesis. This fellow (possibly) looks to be a normal dude who had a Charles Whitman-type amygdala incident or something.
