Obviously, Matt, Festus, and Miss Kitty won't be around, so I am trying to find something to do to kill some time.
Going down to have a contractor body put on a service truck, so I will have all kinds of free time. Bonus: They are giving me a loaner to drive around.
You've got a rental/loaner, Liberal, KS is 1.5 hours away, the Mid-America Air Museum is a pretty okay way to spend an afternoon - http://www.cityofliberal.org/191/Mid-America-Air-Museum

Dodge City also has the Boot Hill Casino -although I doubt it is different than any other casino.

Myself, I would go to hole in the wall Mexican and/or Vietnamese restaurant at some point. Dodge City used to have a small Viet population, not sure how many are still there. (I bought my first Harley from Dodge City Harley-Honda, would always stop and eat while I was having it serviced - one of the reasons I rode a hundred miles for service.)

Personally, if I was stuck in the middle of Kansas with a day plus to kill I wouldn't limit myself to one locale unless I really wanted to be there or the loaner has a mileage limit.... less than three hours to the northeast is https://www.spearpointranch.com/. If it is before mid-march Season close they have pheasant hunting. If it is on a day that there isn't hunting scheduled you could possibly rent Mr. Wirth's excellent ELR range and shoot steel targets from several hundred to 2000+ yards. Similarly there are several interesting museums such as the Cosmosphere in Hutchison 2 hours east of Dodge City....

A friend has hunted deer and pheasant in the area but I don't think you could get much done in a day and a half.

HuthiNson. The Cosmosphere and Strataca Salt Mine Museum are worthy destinations, you'd need to stay over to see both, though.

Frankly, I think Hutch is too far out of the way for you to go to, but if you do, lunch is on me.

Spearpoint Ranch is definitely too far IMO.

Spearpoint Ranch is about 2.5 hours NE of Dodge City, if you decide to go, the Post Rock Motel in Lincoln KS is a good place to stay - an old school small town motel, it is spotlessly clean, and inexpensive. My initial gut feeling was too far to travel, but US50 and US56 get you there quicker than I thought.

Thanks man, If I get there I will PM you way ahead of time.
I'm gonna have to see how wrecked I am after a 9.5 hour drive down to Dodge City.
I have tried every route possible, it just isn't any shorter.

I will check and see if I have a mileage limit.

The Cosmosphere is considered by many to be the preeminent museum concerning the space race era, even above the Smithsonian, as that deals with the history of flight in its entirety not just the space race. I can't recommend the Cosmosphere highly enough. The Liberal air museum is worthwhile, if you're passing through, but I wouldn't make a specific trip the that southwest shithole just for it.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......
