FBI agents shot serving warrant in Florida

    https://apnews.com/article/us-news-s...491a04fdefe96b

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Several FBI agents were shot Tuesday morning while serving a warrant in a child exploitation case in South Florida, authorities said.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that multiple FBI agents were shot while serving the warrant, and that the extent of their injuries was not immediately known. The official could not discuss an ongoing investigation publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

Multiple law enforcement agencies swarmed the neighborhood in suburban Fort Lauderdale in the aftermath of the shooting, as a suspect reportedly remained barricaded inside the home.

Another large contingent of officers gathered outside a Fort Lauderdale hospital where victims were taken, according to television video.

The Sunrise Police Department tweeted about the heavy police presence and the closure of surrounding roads.

The shooting happened around 6 a.m. No additional details were immediately available.
There's nothing civil about this war.

Fox News is reporting at least one of the agents have died and a second is “gravely wounded.”

One federal law enforcement source told the Miami Herald that at least five agents were shot and two were "gravely wounded" in the incident that occurred at around 6 a.m. in the Fort Lauderdale suburb.
We’ve discussed it before but child pornography suspects are always considered high risk due to both the legal consequences and the social stigma.

We had a group in the Miami SAC office, (legacy Customs), which worked these cases with the assistance of state and local officers. I don't recall if the bureau had participated back then or not...I don't recall their presence.

Thoughts are with the agents and their families.

Not sure how things were done back in the day but generally HSI handles cases which have a nexus to the border such as people obtaining CP from overseas or sending CP overseas, paying for CP using overseas credit card processors, sex trafficking cases involving foreign nationals, child sex tourism cases (Americans going overseas to have sex with minors) etc.

The FBI generally handles domestic cases involving the use of interstate facilities such as the Internet, including the dark web, interstate child trafficking, sex trafficking of minors, etc. In most places this is done as part of a violent crimes against children task force or VCAC.

As noted in the Miami Herald article it is also routine to bring along a local police or sheriffs marked unit one serving search and arrest warrants so that there is no confusion or opportunity to make a false claim about whether or not the suspect knew those serving the warrant were actually law enforcement.

All CP search warrants should be treated as high risk, in my opinion. The last FBI shooting we had out of the office here was a CP warrant.

    Prayers for the agents.
