Here's a blast from the past for @Mas!
I was looking for information on some Volquartsen pistols a couple of weeks ago, and the Sept/Oct 1989 issue of American Handgunner popped in my searches. The Volquartsen article didn't have the information I was looking for, but it DID have this neat article about a certain Model 29 that was reworked to use a .44 caliber round based on cut down .308 cases. The idea was to have a rimless .44 loaded hot enough for bowling pin work and reloaded using moon clips instead of speed loaders.
Scroll down to page 48 for the start of the article and then follow the jumps through the magazine in the quaint, yet ever so annoying, style of print magazines. And the ads. Don't skip through those glorious ads of yesteryear!
