Those in California can guess how much flesh I gave up for this BNIB
Enough that my Wife would be pissed...
Thanks PF for always being the place to get good info. I don't know why I even check other forums...
Woke up one morning a few weeks back and thought "I'd like a 19.5 MOS". Checked local-ish shop on Facebook, they had just got some in, $599. Done. Ordered a FCD plate and a 507C with the ACSS reticle. Started getting itchy so waiting another month or 2 on 507C backorder so I ordered an RM06 3.25 that should be here today. Was about to order Ameriglos and thought "I'll check PF first..." and now I'm leaning toward Dawsons as I think I'd really prefer the lowest usable sight height possible. Thanks homies.

I did some other hunting around and thought I would add this in case others found it useful. HCM got me on the right track with his measurements and I verified on my own gun and with Dawson. .335 rear and .330 front with a Forward Controls plate and an RM06. I had read the depth of the Dawson notch was .80 but mine measures exactly .100 deep.
Pictures of sight pictures never convey well, but using the Dawson system of measuring top of slide to bottom of optic window +.100 gives the lowest height that will allow the full use of the rear notch. If a person wanted the absolute lowest, I think you could still get a usable sight picture going as much as .030-.040 lower. Overall I’m glad I picked what I did.
Here is my emailing with Dawson:
Adam,
Yes if your measurements are correct.

Thanks for the quick response! So a .335 rear and a .330 front for a Gen5 19 MOS correct? .005 shorter than the rear?
From: Dawson Sales
Yes, that is correct. .010 is like a few sheets of paper between your fingers.

Hey Dawson Friends, I'm looking at purchasing the lowest usable iron sights I can for use as backups with my RMR on a 19 MOS. I found on a couple forums you had recommended to:
Measure from top of slide to bottom of optic window (for me this is .245")
Add .100 to allow for use of the full rear sight notch
So for me that would be a .345 rear sight, the closest stock offering you have is .335. So I'd just be losing .010 of usable rear notch correct? That isn't a deal killer for me, mainly just concerned sights will clear the optic and are usable. Some Modern Samurai Project students have mentioned using the .335 as well with success. Am I on the right track here?
Thanks a bunch!
Adam
Too slow for PF edit cut off, corrected from above.I had read the depth of the Dawson notch was .080 but mine measures exactly .100 deep.
Swapped my AmeriGlos out for some 10-8 sights since my rear sight had started to walk.
.315 front with the MOS rear with the .156 width notch.
