Rich,
I just replaced my scale, and I guess I am restarting at 237ish, vice the 230 I thought I was at. Now my reward (integrally suppressed AR upper) requires 7 more pounds to reach.
I just finished my last FTO rotation for the next three months, the most time I have had off of FTO since October. Literally my time off of FTO has been measured in days due to a hiring push that has people waiting for staggered start dates. When the cycle started there were three FTOs in a department of 45 authorized, 30 serving. Then a pay adjustment was authorized, and we doubled our FTOs, but are still three shy of staffing goals. I am the only FTO on my shift, so ALL rookies come to me at some point.
Also our hiring standards seem to have slipped, so several new hires need significantly more attention, guidence, supervision and mentoring than others. The next two weeks are easing back into the routine with 3/1/21 being the official re-start date. When on FTO I am a slave to the radio, jumping everyone else's calls so the Trainee can see/do as much as humanly possible in the time they have with me. I cannot be a success if my rookies are found to be lacking when they get to their shifts. Sleep and gym time are the biggest things lost, but nutrition slips when you have zero energy and not only have to perform, but set the example. So you try to feed the unrested fires, rather than live with them.
