Wing Claw 2.5 / DCC clips question

I recently (thanks for the Black Friday promo pricing!) bought a PPQ Wing Claw 2.5 for use with my P99 and/or P99c. P99 fit in the PPQ holster is good, as @GJM mentioned it would be in another thread a long time ago - the gun clicks in nicely and retention is on par with my CCC OWB holster, or possibly even a little tighter.

This is my first AIWB holster, and as I play around with positioning it on my belt trying to get a feel for whether AIWB is going to work for me, I'm finding that one or the other of the pair of DCC clips often come into conflict with the belt loops on some of my pants relative to where I'm trying to place the holster. Would removing one of the two clips cause too much reduction in stability, or is that worth trying? The clips seem quite stout, so I'm thinking that wouldn't be unreasonable, but I figured it would make sense to just ask here vs wondering.

    Thanks!

    I personally wouldn't remove a clip.

I carry with just the one clip that’s over the trigger guard area - plenty of quality holsters are made to be used like this, including the PHLster Classic. Using just one in the center like you’re talking about would offer the same acceptable level of security. It’s just going to be a matter of whether you like the new range of movement the holster has on your belt.

Our friend Tom @ Dark Star Gear carries a G17 bearing Orion with one DCC clip running up from the Dark Wing over the trigger guard. I asked him during a recent phone conversation whether he had an opportunity to roll while wearing in this fashion and he answered that he had and that it passed muster.

(In fact, his say so got me to try it out with a Tenicor Velo 4 I use for my G26 because I was having issues positioning it due to belt loops. So far, so good, but early days. I only have the one DCC running over the trigger guard as of a few days ago.)

Here's a link to one of his holster's set up that way...

ETA: Since this is Tony's forum, I think it only right to add that I own three of Tony's holsters...a G19 "George", as well as one for a G17 with a light, and one for an L frame S&W revolver...his work is impeccable.

There's nothing civil about this war.

The wide hole spacing never worked out well for me either. I typically carry closer to my centerline and the clip over the sight channel would always interfere with the button on my pants.

Iv converted to using the DCC Monoblock and it seems to be more compatible with my attire.

Appreciate the replies, guys. Sounds like it's a reasonable thing to at least experiment with.

I run only one clip on my 2.5. In fact, it’s not even their clip. I fit a GCode plastic clip to mine, which allows me to carry a little lower in the belt line. The single clip application also allows the holster to move a little with your body, making it more comfortable for some. Others prefer the rigidity of dual clips. YMMV.

FWIW, I run a Wing Claw 2.0 with only one tuckable strut w/PDS loop, over triggerguard, for better fitment.

Wearin' it right now, in a NPE.

It is perfectly safe and reliable to do so, drive on.

It's all completely personal, don't be worried to try out something new/different. Make it work for you. I am not a fan of the 1 clip, but I don't want the holster to lose any cant, but that's me.

I hope @olstyn doesn’t mind piling on this thread with a JM CK AIWB 2.5 / DCC question. I checked and of the forum sponsors, only Tony (I think) makes a left handed G19 length AIWB. I don’t want a G17 length (personal previous experience) AIWB.

I’m transitioning from a Gock 48 in a DSG Hitchhicker with a single DCC clip and a Dark Wing (as pictured below), to a Glock 19 MOS. The DSG holster worked really well for me.

Can I get close to this set up with a JM CK AIWB 2.5? Or do I want a 2.0? What set of order options would end up with a G19-sized holster like this? I’ve worked on an item in my shipping cart, as per below, but wanted to get some input:

    AIWB Wing Claw 2.5 - G19 $70
    Belt loops: 1.5” DCC
    Carry Side: Left
    Color: Orange $2
DCC Option: 1.5” DCC Clips $10
    Guard: Full
    Hole pattern:wide
    Muzzle Pad: None
    Red Dot Cut: Yes $5.

I know I would need to take off the DCC Monoblock and put on the DCC Mod 4 1.5" clip I currently have, but I want both upper and lower sets of holes for maximum flexibility.
