    CS/OC as excessive force

Here's one from my part of the planet.....the gist of the case is this:

Lawyers with the Abolitionist Law Center allege that guards used an “unjustifiable amount” of pepper spray to break up an altercation between another inmate and Briggs, who they said was defending himself in the fight.

I had never heard of the "Abolitionist Law Center," which was founded in 2000 - here's the link to that:

    The entire article:

They say three different officers used prolonged streams of pepper spray instead of short bursts as they had been trained to use, noting that the third officer sprayed Briggs directly in the face as two other officers held him down to handcuff him.
Lawsuits after the death of an inmate are inevitable.

OC is pepper powder suspended in a water or alcohol based carrier, and spraying people directly in the face is how you use OC.

The use of prolonged streams of OC actually makes the OC LESS effective as the additional OC / carrier actually washes out the prior OC.

Physical exertion, like being in a fight, can also trigger asthma attacks.

Who knows how accurate the article or the allegations it is based on are ?
But I am pretty confident that even if the guards caused this mans death it wasn’t the OC of the amount of OC that caused it.
