Pro-Tech TR-5 or TR-3

Recently became interested in these, but they don't really seem to have good availability. I can find 5,000,000,000+ styles/variations, but only 1 in stock here, 1 in stock there.

Well, I found an assisted opening TR-5 with a stone-washed blade and plain black grips just to get my hands on a Pro-Tech and try it out. I've sort of narrowed down what I'm looking for in a knife, so I'll try the Pro-Tech and a Benchmade Bailout, see which I like better. If I like the Pro-Tech, I can always get the TR-3 or TR-5 in a more preferable configuration at a later point.

I was looking at the Bailout for a harder use Bugout but it still seems like too lightweight of a knife for what you are spending. I got the 560-1 Freek instead.

Sounds like we’re on a similar page. After I found out about the Microtech mil discount, I was a little concerned about my purchasing the Freek. I would also shop Microtech if you are interested in Pro Tech.

Yeah, so....I ended up going overboard.

Right after posting that, a few shops got a restock of some of the knives I was interested in. So, I bought a TR-5 and also a Pro-Tech Les George SBR. The SBR has a blue handle with an acid washed blade.

Not terribly interested in Microtech's designs, to be honest.

Very much on board with both of those styles; probably my favorite from Pro Tech. I’m really looking at the Rockeye fixed blade but don’t need it. Or the Sebenza I’m trying to (not) buy.

Superlative quality. Very svelte, beautiful pieces of work.

I'm really digging the blade profiles, ergonomics, and the anodized handle finish.

Very nice. I’m on a knife spending freeze. Saving for a Chris Reeves product I’m pretty sure. Or a watch 🤷
