    What is "HR218?"

    ...or, why we should refer to carry privileges under 18 USC 926B and C as "LEOSA" or "926B/C."

    Running a LEOSA program, I get a bit of a chuckle when folks call to enroll in their "HR218 certification", wondering how I might help them with these many issues.

    Congress - HR218 Bill

    93rd - A bill to amend the Social Security Act to make certain that recipients of aid or assistance under the various Federal-State public assistance and medicaid programs (and recipients of assistance under the veterans’ pension and compensation programs or any other Federal or federally assisted program) will not have the ... amount of such aid or assistance reduced because of increases in monthly social security benefits.

    Yes, let’s please stop using that stupid moniker. What other long-passed act gets referred to similarly? I can’t think of one.

    18 USC 922(o) gets referred to as the "Hughes Amendment" pretty often. But I agree, using the actual code citation makes a lot more sense.
