That's a mighty fine looking fish killer you built yourself. You should be damn proud of your skills mate.
Thanks man, has been a bit of a process but finally starting to feel like I'm wrapping it up now.

We do get some good cutthroat runs in this huge estuary just to the south of me actually;. I might well go after them. I have always wanted to start targeting steelhead but never quite gotten around to it; I'm sure it's a similar experience.

I’ve been enjoying watching the construction of the boat it looks really nice to a guy who appreciates craftsmanship, but doesn’t know much more about water going vessels than port means left. Now I’m just waiting for the fish pics.
Man, that's the one thing keeping my nose to the grindstone at this late stage...I just want to get some red on that deck!

Been waiting a long time to be able to post an update like this:

175' of water, right on the bottom. Hit the lure like a freight train; it came up folded in half. First fish on the boat, and very happy that he was right there for it. The subsequent hour or so was punctuated with shouts of "fish," "boat," and "dad."

    Great day.

Congratulations! It’s a great feeling when something you imagined and built works as intended.

Popped out for a quick run to the trolling grounds after work and had barely started fishing when this spring hit... partially straightened the hook, he hit like a freight train. Stomach jammed with small herring. Surprised he was still biting.

Good news! Hope your summer run deflects some of the heat we're getting up here about intercepting your catch...one good run can wipe out a lot of past sins.

That's definitely been getting some press here... although so far this year has been good. We'll see what the returns look like, though.
