Republican John James barely takes lead in Michigan Senate race

I think that we are looking at the future of the Republican party here. I like this guy.

From the battlefield to the shop floor, John James has lived his life placing service before self. A husband, father, combat veteran, and businessman, John James believes Michigan deserves a U.S. Senator that can achieve tangible results.

At 17, John made the decision to serve his country. After graduating from West Point in 2004, he became a Ranger-qualified aviation officer. John went on to serve with distinction in Operation Iraqi Freedom where he earned a Combat Action Badge (CAB) and two Air Medals while logging 753.7 flight hours in theater leading two Apache platoons.

While James was serving in Iraq, the recession was hitting Michigan hard and Detroit harder. He looked at his hometown area and there were parts of Michigan that looked worse than war-torn Baghdad. So, James came home to serve in a different way, as a job provider.

After eight years of service to the nation, John James was honorably discharged and returned to Michigan to work in the family business: James Group International. As President, John James grew the company into a major trading partner with Michigan’s auto industry. He also served on Governor Rick Snyder’s mobility council and Veterans Trust Committee, and Detroit Mayor Duggan’s Workforce Development Council. John James found ways to serve his community as he continued his education, raised a family, and created jobs in the city where he was born.

In addition to his Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, John has earned a Master of Supply Chain Management and Information Systems from Penn State University and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan. John is also a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

John, his wife, Liz, and his 3 sons reside in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Thats great as long as he is solid on the issues which I know nothing about his stances.
In KY you have Amy McGrath running against Mitch McConnell. Shes as liberal as they come and shes USMC 20 years.
    I'll wager you a PF dollar™ 😎

    ETA:

    Second Amendment

As a teenager the U.S. Army taught me how to use firearms, and as an adult, our Constitution gives me the right to defend my family.
But we have a problem for kids’ safety in this nation. I was in high school when Columbine happened. I know what it’s like to walk through the halls with fear of gun violence heavy in the air. I am now a dad. My first-born son just graduated kindergarten. In the past 20 years, career politicians haven’t made our children any safer than I was. I want all children to grow up in a world where they do not fear going to school.
I do believe we should keep weapons away from those with mental illness, and those who demonstrate a desire to harm themselves and others. I believe we can do this, without taking away rights from law abiding citizens, especially veterans.
We also have a mental health problem in this country. We also need to take a serious look at what is wrong with our culture that we are producing an alarming number of disturbed and anonymous individuals who place no value on human life. I am open to a conversation that protects lives and protects individual rights.

He is solid. I voted for him last time, and just did again. Not only would he be a huge improvement over what we have now, but would do well on his own merit.

I served with dozens of Ranger-qualified people over the years and I've had a handful of West Pointers in my chain of command at various times. ALL of them were deeply squared away.

This guy already has my vote.
