    .357 mag for SP101

I will be loading these in magnum brass for a SP101. The powders I have on hand that I am going to start with are Hodgdon HP-38, HS-6, and Titegroup. Digging through the data, these seem to be the best ones to give the velocity of 900 to 1000fps I am looking for. I do have other powders that I can go to if desired results are not achieved. Look for results in my reloading journal in the coming days.

Wink I received the exact same package last week!!

I used W231 with some of my loads.

    HP 38 = W231 I believe.

Good luck with your loadings for your new present.

I think your HP38 and Titegroup powders will work quite well for the wadcutter, but I prefer powders a bit slower; Unique, Universal and HS-6 for 158 gr SWCs. I start a new to me coated bullet loads with min. lead bullet data and work up if necessary...

Can't speak to reloading issues, but my three SP101s (two of them with 2.25" barrels, one with a 3" barrel) all shoot to POA with 158gr Buffalo Bore JHP.

125gr .357 Magnum anything loads shoot high.
.38 Special anything shoots pretty low.

I believe the Ruger SP101 revolver is sighted for 158gr .357 Magnum loads.
