With the caveat that I haven't had one break on me yet, I have noticed a change from the early 7 series light bearing holsters to the current ones. The early models had the seam (held together with screws and clips) over the sight track, so the fold was around the light. The later ones are folded over the sights with the seam over the light channel. The newer ones are much less prone to flex/compression in the area of the light than the older style. I suspect the reported breakages are likely from early models, leading to the change.
Anything I post is my opinion alone as a private citizen.
We had a shooter who crushed his while shooting on his side. His body weight and his sliding/moving around to get into position flexed the material and crushed it. It wasn't smashed flat but it was damaged enough to no longer work.
I was told about one of the light bearing holsters being broken too but I haven't seen this one in person.

Both the light bearing versions, too. I can see how the broader, wider design of those might play badly with weight stress placed on them. Gonna have to do more digging now.....
ETA: just noticed that the top picture at least appears to be a 6300 series, rather than a 7TS?

The top photo is a 6000 series. It is laminate covered, has a rear tension screw, and has the suede style lining.
