Thread: I need some pants.

    I need some pants.

Just like the title says. Here’s the criteria:

Need to be cargo type (6 pockets)
Need to be fairly tough, I will do work in these and I can’t have them ripped to shreds first time I wear them.
Need to be available in a light brown and a dark gray color, more color options better.
I’d like roomy pockets (obvious reasons).
I would really like to spend $40 or less per pair.

Let me know what ya got, or if my expectations are unrealistic.

Eschewing the camo options I think you'd be hard-pressed to do better than these:

Fit might not be very "modern" but I have some old pants / cutoffs made from old Propper BDUs that have been to hell and back and are still in one piece.

ETA: hard-pressed to do better than these for the price.

I’m assuming you mean the fit is “relaxed?” That’s what I want. I do not do skinny jeans at all.

Take a look at Tru-Spec 24-7 and Duluth Trading Firehose cargo pants. Maybe a little more expensive than specified. LA Police Gear cargos might make the budget cut off, but I prefer the Tru-Spec ones.

Size up for Propper if you want 'relaxed'.

I normally wear a 34-36" waist, ordered Proppers in 36" waist and they were too small (measured 33" with the tape measure...). I can wear them, but they certainly are not 'relaxing' to wear. Also, I ordered a 30" inseam and got something close to a 36" length.

I ended up simply chopping them down and I use them as garage pants, but they aren't ideal and the fit isn't great.

If I had it to do over again, I would try a different brand and see if I could find something that fit better and/or was truer to size.

If you can wait on a sale, as they have them marked down several times a year, the Duluth Firehose pants wear like friggin iron. I never pay full price but they are probably worth it. My favorite is the Firehose DuluthFlex which are lighter and still pretty robust. I get the regular, not a fan of the Elite line at the price point. The regular Firehose are killer.

ETA: They have the flex on clearance right now.

My pick is: LA Police Gear Men's Urban Recon Pant: $30
    https://lapolicegear.com/lapg-urban-recon-pant.html

When they get too worn for daily wear, I repurpose them for martial arts.

My vote would be for Duluth Trading's DuluthFlex Firehose Cargo. Sign up for their e-mails and you'll find that they often will put them on sale in the $40s.
