Thread: Who here is voting for Biden?

  1. #111
Know what, I never post in political threads, well, almost never. But I guess I’ll bite this time.

I despise Trump. Don’t like the way he behaves, don’t like the way he whines, don’t like the narcissism and the ego. I don’t believe the bullshit that he’s the billionaire that cares about people like me. I wish he’d delete his fuckin twitter account. I wish he’d behave more like a reasoned adult than a petulant child.

    But....

He’s the first president I can remember that said they were gonna help manufacturing against China and then actually tried to do it. How well he’s succeeded is up for debate, but damnit he really did try. That’s worth a hell of a lot to me. I distinctly remember Obama running in ‘08 talking about getting tough on China. The media seemed to think it was a good idea then. And I remember Hillary saying it couldn’t be done back in ‘08. But once Obama got elected, he didn’t help a damn thing.

When the ‘16 primaries were on, my ideal GOP ticket was Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and I didn’t care who was top of the ticket. After Trump won the nomination, it became a real hold my nose thing and it still is. My vote for president does not matter here in IL. It won’t matter once I move to either IN or MO depending on where I find my next job. But I’ll still gladly pull the lever against a Harris administration in ‘20 based entirely on their planned gun control schemes, their tacit support for the destruction of America’s cities, and what I am absolutely positive will be more kowtowing to China on trade matters.

ETA: one thing I truly wish is people in this country would stop listening to the “right” and the “left” and try to just be decent human beings. Stop with the “no compromise” bullshit on every single matter. I compromise with a 4 year old nearly daily. She wants candy. I want her to eat her dinner. We make a deal, the deal is if she eats her protein and veggies, she can have a piece of candy. I walk away happy she ate a good nutritious meal and she’s happy she gets a sweet treat at the end. It’s really not that hard.

When you take no compromise to the extreme, in the “adult” world, you get the whole “if I don’t get what I want right now I set shit on fire” mentality we are seeing on full display in our metro areas. I think every rational adult in the nation can agree this is bad.

I also think Trump has bungled the Coronavirus response. He had a moment to prove he could rise up and be a hell of a leader in a challenging time. He chose not to do that over politics and petty grievances. The no compromise attitude of him and his fanboys has made this thing worse IMO.

We don’t know what unemployment levels would have been in a COVID/ Obama world, so we don’t have that to compare. Non COVID times, the numbers speak for themselves.

Weighing one guy’s shitbaggery against the other when comparing politicians is utterly stupid and naive.

They’re federal-level politicians. They are, by definition, shitbags. They are, by definition, susceptible to bribery or other shitbaggery. They are, by definition it in, surrounded by other, perhaps worse, shitbags.

If you’re voting for (or against) the man, you’re wrong, and frankly you’re 99% of the problem, with no real difference than the BLM morons roaming the streets in The Great Temper Tantrum of 2020 (TGTT2020).

I haven’t paid one ounce of attention in the last 4 years to anything Trump has said. Some leaks in because there’s so much shrieking about it, but I haven’t actively listened to one thing first hand. What I’ve paid attention to is the lack of changes in gun laws, the lack of credible threat to said gun laws, a relatively calm foreign affairs situation as regards violent acts against America and her interests, an economy that’s working just fine for me (present situation included, frankly), and which guy is likely to maintain that even strain and which guy is more likely to tip over my personal apple cart.

That said, I find it interesting that folks seem to think that there will be violence if Trump loses. So far this year the majority perpetrators of violence in TGTT2020 have been those that Biden has supported and vice versa. As a society we have allowed a level 6 level of public mayhem to become the accepted norm. When the misfits don’t get what they want, do you think they are going to retreat into cry rooms a la 2016, when the accepted level of public mayhem was maybe a 2? No, 6 is the new baseline, and when they ramp up we’re going to get near 8 or 10.
Does the above offend? If you have paid to be here, you can click here to put it in context.

    "I'm voting for Biden."
    Why?
    *Trump Derangement noises*

This is supposed to be a contest of ideas, not a personality contest but I do enjoy the Free Shit Army weighing in with their right-speak. I hope your virtues can fund your retirements.

Also, in case anyone missed it: Biden's handlers think social media companies should be responsible for their users' posts...so it's been a good ride p-f.

If the election goes the way of this poll, Trump walks in.....

Trump is his own worst enemy, Biden has a 47 year record of being a windbag and little else.

I'm not trying to "date" either one, I'm supporting a political ideology.

The national Democrats demonstrate they're nothing but power hungry dirt bags.

A vote for Biden is a vote for the socialist dirt bags.

Trump doesn't matter in the long run, supporting the dirt bags does.

Trump and the anti-speech right has been spearheading this push for way longer. Biden didn't jump onboard the 'Section 230 reform' shit-train until relatively recently, whereas it's been a theme for Trump since he learned California tech companies have liberals in them. Trump even issued a meaningless executive order about it.

My vote doesn't matter in my state. I'll probably write-in Vermin Supreme.
