Man on Fire? Terminator 2? Aliens?

The recent Extraction on Netflix also used this formula.
"When the phone rang, Parker was in the garage, killing a man."

    The Road

Which was a good movie I’m probably only going to watch once and a book I haven’t been able to bring myself to read because I don’t want to spend that long in that headspace.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado with Benicio and the cartel leaders daughter. That part of the movie gave me Creasy Bear vibes.

Though not a movie per se, The Last of Us was one of the best stories to use this formula.

I'm thinking Logan could be added to this list.
"When the phone rang, Parker was in the garage, killing a man."

If you movie fans are interested, Max Allen Collins, who scripted the graphic novel Road to Perdition, has novelized the film and written two sequels about the son, who grows up to fight in the Pacific in WWII and then
returns to seek vengeance for his father. Third book is set in Nevada in 1973, when the son is "middle aged" and still involved with the Mob.

Love the movie, haven't read the books yet, but they're on the list. All are rated pretty well.

He also wrote the Quarry series, which I really enjoyed.

That didn't last too long on Cinemax.

I've set "Road to Perdition" to record on my DVR. Apparently it's playing on the IFC channel in a week or two.
There's nothing civil about this war.

I meant the book series. But yeah, the show was only so-so.
