That right there is some grade-A bullshit. If they're going to spend that money then it should be paying for MPD to provide protection. Better yet, make them pay for it out-of-pocket to hire off duty officers at the OT rate but only on a volunteer basis. If nobody wants to volunteer then you don't get protection. And city officials should be prohibited from hiring private security.
