Dave does seem like a genuinely good guy, and it's obvious that he appreciates any and all forms of music. I can't count the number of times I've heard him say "that's one of my favorite bands!" and sound like he really meant it.
And he's willing to play with pretty much anyone, any time. Just off the top of my head - Zac Brown, Trombone Shorty, Killing Joke, Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones.
