Adding a lanyard to square butt grips on a round butt gun

I've got a RB m65-5 that I want to put square butt VZ grips on and add a stud in the void.

Right now I'm thinking of cutting a spare vz grip screw. That way I'll thread it in on one side and the none threaded half will slip in a hole.

I'll post pics later.

Anyone have a better idea?

I vaguely recall seeing something about adding a lanyard stud to Hogue grips, I think it was a replacement stirrup that normally attaches the grip from below and hooks on the indexing pins in the frame for the grips. It may be possible to use that with the other grips or devise a way to make something similar.

Looks like one could adapt it to other grips by using a spacer under the ring instead of it torquing on the Hogue grips.

There was a Hogue grip stirrup down the page also.

Hogue used to sell grip screws that were lanyard attachment points. I don’t think they were on the site, I think I ordered them by phone. I have one on my 629.

I might call hogue for a stud for my jm grips on my MG. I just wanted to use these VZ grips.

Add a lanyard pin from grip to grip a la j frame 43c/351c. Lil piece of drill rod slightly wider than the frame and a hole in each grip.
