In many instances, there are basically zero consequences for participating in rioting and looting. Big city DAs just cut people loose without bail or drop charges entirely... if they're even caught or arrested at all.

The sorts of changes in attitudes you're talking about will take significant time... maybe even a generation. Even with some money in the bank, some folks will never change. Look at all the tech bros with Bernie stickers or the lawyers arrested in New York for throwing molotov cocktails into a police car.

Reducing poverty and growing the middle class are good long-term goals. That sort of change just wont happen in time to stop what is happening now.

They're will always be exceptions, hence my response it probably won't stop. Diminish, but not stop.

People keep saying the protesters are looking for a Kent State moment. People are already getting killed. Movements looking for martyrs need a certain profile. This isn't any different then recruiting Muslim suicide bombers. Money men may fund, but they don't suck up bullets or strap on suicide belts with rare exception.

So... we wave the PF magic wand and the minimum wage gets set to a cost of living index tomorrow. Anyone who is willing to work will earn $15 or $17, or $25 an hour or whatever. Lets say, for the sake of argument, that it doesn't drive increased inflation or automation.

I don't think the minimum wage arguments are being advanced to stop the violence, they precede the violence by quite some time.

Realistically, you couldn't raise the minimum wage to a 'living wage' in one fell swoop, it needs to be a several year process. So, what would be likely is that the leftist idiots would complain about the slow pace and seize that as an excuse to tear shit up.

The Mormon/Jehovah thing. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, so I’ll just chalk it up to a misunderstanding on my end. On a side note I’m neither one of those, but I, probably not surprisingly, have great respect for them.

The Mormon and Jehovah folks are probably the best known religions that go door to door evangelizing. Sometimes they are hard to break contact with if you are being polite. Hence, I was comparing your persistence in wanting me to read books and watch videos to their persistence in wanting to share their faith with someone who already has their own.

I have several friends and acquaintances who are of those faiths, we don't agree on religious doctrine and move on with shared interests.
