Seriously – has he not even been charged?

He was clearly charging at Rittenhouse with a gun in his hand in self defense.

There is internet chatter about him having some sort of burglary prior but I haven't seen any court records etc actually showing he is a convicted felon or otherwise prohibited.

One of the many things that always impressed me about this movie was how the Bolivian (I assume) soldiers were armed with FALs instead of the ubiquitous AKs. Just one of those things that make you realize that someone in the production (and maybe the producer/director himself) knew a thing or two about guns.

Did anyone but us see the video where KR had his rifle pointed at him and bicep guy apparently surrender and then when KR looked elsewhere bicep guy attempted to bring his weapon to bear?

I think they were supposed to be Cuban. The Cuban army used FALs prior to Castro taking over.

I guess that makes sense given that the primary antagonist was a Cuban.

The Bautista regime ordered the FALs in the 50s. They had a Cuban Crest on the side of the mag well. The Cubans milled out the crest, leaving a hole and gave them to communist rebels in El Salvador, Nicaragua etc in the 70s and 80s. I recall Peter Kokalis did a big write up on them in SOF back in the day.
