Cool WaPo: TSA Found 13% More Guns, but There are 70% Less Travelers

Washington Post was covering that The TSA reported in the first five days of August, checkpoints found 52 firearms at airport security checkpoints, a 13% increase over the same period in 2019. However, airline passenger volumes are down 70%.

TSA pointed to a recent Brookings article that says: “almost three million more firearms have been sold since March than would have ordinarily been sold during these months.” (https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-fr...firearm-sales/)

It's probably because they are not pushing a butt load of travelers through and have time to do proper searching.
We could isolate Russia totally from the world and maybe they could apply for membership after 2000 years.

The most common reason TSA catches folks with guns is that people simply forget they have firearms with/on them. This is always breathlessly reported in the news, but happens all the time. With more folks carrying guns for protection, I guess it stands to reason there are more guns being caught at checkpoints.

Or it could be because there is no nationwide standard for checking a firearm in when you fly.
