    It is “less lethal” not “non lethal” and certainly not “eye safe.”

    IMO that was a whole lot of nothing.

    Discusses the risks of damage to the eye from various types of less than lethals. Policy implications are suggested.

    1) If you are young, a protestor, and someone shoots your eye out, you'll be w/o vision for a long time;

    2) we recommend local medical centers proactively reach out to protest leaders and participants regarding appropriate safety precautions;

    3) law enforcement agencies should very be judicious in their use and certain that they avoid high-risk areas including the face and eyes as detailed in many (many? try every manual ever written) law enforcement operations manuals.

    Gee, I'm glad someone got a grant for that, otherwise they might not of substantively addressed the issue, oh, wait....

    This is just a case report so it's basically the academic medical equivalent of an op-ed in your local paper. No real money involved.
