Go old school (like late 1600-ish old school): The game isn't worth the candle.

It alludes to gambling, usually via a card game, with such low stakes that the candle burning to illuminate the game was of more value then the pot. Usually attributed to some French guy that I can't recall the name of any longer.
Sorta around sometimes for some of your shitty mod needs.

Sounds like something a Boomer or Karen would complain about.

'Not worth the candle' is ultimately of French origin. It appears in Randle Cotgrave's A Dictionarie of the French and English Tongues, 1611, where it is listed as:

"Le jeu ne vaut pas la chandelle."

Cotgrave translated that into English as "it will not quit cost".

"The first known printed record of the phrase in English is in Sir William Temple's Works, circa 1690:

"Perhaps the Play is not worth the Candle."

Blues has always enjoyed his squeezes. Now this thread is not safe for spouses.

I haven't told you to piss off lately, have I? Must be slipping.

    I'll allow it.

Well I mean, you did start a thread to complain about a phrase I used this morning.

True. In that regard you were the tipping point. But it wasn't aimed at you...(I think you know that.)

It's simply an overused phrase hereabouts, imho, despite it being descriptive.
