Pre-Panic? Based on actual numbers I’ve kept since 2014, I’ve averaged about 200 rounds a month, or 2,400 annually. Honestly, I doubt I’d shoot that much these days.

But it’s not just a question of money. We rent, and move house frequently. Plus up till this year, I’ve either been traveling the US in an RV (2016-2018) or for work (2018-2020, to various USAF bases CONUS/OCONUS).

We’re in the process of buying a house; we’ll be moving next Spring. I’m going to retire retire, and may have more space / budget / time / inclination to ponder the calculus of reloading then. It’s certainly on my mind.

Space is definitely at a premium in an RV, and it's pretty tough to want to bolt a press down on a bench in a rental, so that makes sense. I just look at your post where you say you spent literally 6X what it costs me to load my own (1K rounds is about $105-110 or so at the prices I usually pay for components) and wonder what sort of bizarro world we're in where that makes any kind of sense.

Yeah, 3K rounds for $580 is a LOT more reasonable than 1K rounds for $659.

That said, election years just about always seem to involve some sort of panic buying in the gun world. 2020 just upped the ante beyond the usual.
