Thread: Help me spend ~$1100 on a 1911!

Another vote for TRP but the Dan Wesson is definitely hard competition for it in my mind. Depends on how you value the features that @JHC pointed out. TRP wins by a nose for me. And @JHC, a plug and GI guide rod is easy and cheap to boot. The FLGR that came in my TRP is sitting unused in the blue plastic case.

+1 I count the TRP same as GI set up for the ease of changing. The TRP Operator railed model not as much (bull barrel).

Thanks to everyone who voted and commented, I appreciate the information. Next week I should have a non-rail TRP in my grubby mitts thanks to a member who offered me a very good deal.

If I decide to upgrade my Commander scene (currently a Ruger), it’s going to be with a DW. Which really means the hunt is on while I’m waiting for the fun fund to replenish.

Good question. It’s not park but I don’t know for sure what it is.

Depending upon the age of the TRP, it is either Armory Kote (SA's finish applied in house on older pistols) or Black-T (newer pistols).

    Nice choice

I have the very same, but in stainless. I put C&S action parts into it 20 years ago and it’s a tack driver. Not as good as my pair of Professionals, but still quite good for what it is. I do hate the front serrations on mine though.

The finish is almost certainly Armory-kote, Black-T was used on Professionals and gets quite glossy after many presentations from leather.
