I posted a long ways back about all this BS .. that working Corrections we knew when it was time to smash the rioters.
The time has come and gone .. Fuck worrying about if they riot more ..you than smash the Fucks over and over ..they will stop.
I'm down with shooting people using lasers as weapons, but maybe something less lethal would would work. LE commonly has IR lasers, right? Two can play the laser game. Plus with IR lasers it won't be obvious they're being used. If a laser-ing rioter goes blind, the obvious conclusion is that he must've not been careful playing with his laser, not someone else lased him back with an invisible laser.
That’s not how law enforcement use of force works. You don’t get to play tit-for-tat games where someone tries to hurt you so you try to hurt them back. Law enforcement, when operating under constitutional use of force standards, may only use the force reasonably necessary to perform an enforcement function.
Police use of force is not some revenge fantasy where we literally trade an eye for an eye. Trust me. The world where the police can do things like what you’re suggesting is not the world any of us wants to live in.
My posts only represent my personal opinion and do not necessarily reflect the opinions or official policies of any employer, past or present. Obvious spelling errors are likely the result of an iPhone keyboard.
And yet I think there are very few of us who would see anything wrong in shooting to death an assailant who was trying to blind us.

Not my lane, but how do less-lethal measures like bean bag rounds or rubber 12ga figure into this?
Seems that an ROE authorizing the use of such against the users of lasers would be a much easier sell vs going lethal. But would that open a Pandora's box of less lethal vs GBH, which is already enough of a problem, it seems?
