    From Ready. 297 w/ several X’s.
    From concealment. 296 w/ several X’s.
Par times are pretty generous, IMO. I made the comfortably from both ready and concealment.

Both 8 ring “misses” were DA at 25 yards. So, work to do there.

Tried again - same gear and similar result.

    265 - 1M @ 25

I went way too fast at 15 and pulled high right. Name: F0298C39-48D8-4129-B041-1B923B0FF7C1.jpg

To work on trigger control, I tried Dot Torture at 3 yards. 47 is pretty good for me. The shots I dropped were from task loading (rushing ahead), not fundamentals.

Use a B8 start at 3 yards, fire one shot into the x five times from the ready (as in come up fire a shot, follow through with a second sight picture and then bring the gun back to ready). When you get all 5 shots in the X in a row twice move back to 5 yards same goal, then 7 yards with the same goal, then 10 should be X majority nothing outside of the 10 ring, then 15 with majority X nothing outside the 10 ring then 20 yards say 9 or better, and lastly 25 all in the black is the goal.

X is really the goal up to 20 but it takes time and practice. This walk back drill will focus on grip, trigger, and sights and by breaking it down each shot you will be able to work on your consistency.

Another good thing to do is walk down and check the target between each shot maintaining your firing grip on the pistol.

Thanks. The peculiar thing is that I didn’t have this issue with previous guns. It’s not surprising that the DA/SA trigger is different from the Glock 19 I shot in 2017-19, but I also didn’t have this happen in 17 years shooting a SIG P229. I’m wondering if my grip is a little off or something.

So DA/SA I would do it DA only and then you can mix SA in, like one DA one SA one DA one SA one DA for the five shots.

    279. Well under time limits.

I shanked one off the B8 from the 25 yard line.

2 years since I ran a LEM. Months since iron sights.

Frustrated by the other day’s experience, I decided to test whether it might be something about the gun - maybe the sights, or a failure to re-adapt to the DA/SA trigger. I shot the drills on two side by side targets, shooting my old Glock first oneach string before moving to the next yardage.

So (as usual) it’s not the gun. Things I noticed:

I threw two shots at 25 with the Glock, vs. one with the Beretta.

At 15, I went way too fast with both guns - like 7-8 seconds on the first string. And I went even faster with the Beretta, which is why I hammered all those rounds high in the 8.

At 5, the Beretta came into its own. It just shoots so damn flat, and has such a crisp trigger, that I can just hammer them into the 10 as fast as I can pull the trigger. That stage made up a good bit of the cluster from the X to 6 o’clock in the 9.

Overall, I think I just need to work on my follow through and harness those positive points to an appropriate cadence for the longer ranges.

I switched up this afternoon with a G45 and a T&E Holosun mounted. The Holosun is a Model 507C V2, with a C&H “Defender” plate. After consulting w @GJM, I initially zeroed with just the dot last week on dept. indoor range. 100+ rounds Sunday outdoors, ringing an 8” plate with just the circle.

Today: Indoor range, lit. Sight set on just circle. All rounds under time. Winchester 147 gr. FMJFP.
Score= 291 points. Less than a handful of “8s” @25(2) and 15 yards(1). At 10, 7 and 5 yards, ALL Xs and “10s”. I merely held the circle around the bull and worked the trigger. I am very pleased, and will continue to work with this setup.

I also am grateful for the knowledge and advice of @GJM and others here. I would just offer one opinion to some others here: work on the accuracy before going for a lower time-jmho.

I’m happy I’ve been able to get to the range weekly to keep working on this.

Langdon PX4CC today 253 - but with an asterisk because it actually reflects some improvement:

    • I had no misses at 25. I had two high left in the 7, two low right in the 7, and one in the 9.
    • Where I fell short was at 15; I over corrected for my hasty pace last time and only fired 4 shots in 15.11. So I subtracted 10 for the OT hit. If I’d made all 5 in time, I’d likely have cracked 270.
    • I also jerked a couple low at 10 and 7.

Looking back at my iron sight scores from a few years ago, I have improved. I believe much of that I can attribute to the dot, as I have not been putting in the same amount of work to maintain and grow skill. I was pretty close to my iron sight peak in 2020. I do not think I could match that with irons today. But the new setup that i was running today seems promising. I believe it was Dobbs on a podcast, who said something along the lines of a dot making the gun almost irrelevant, and I think that is largely true. It doesn't seem to matter much which dot gun I choose, as the dot negates a lot of the idosyncracies of particular designs. Were I running iron sights I would likely be more picky on what gun I was running.

This COF is another that I have added to my Range folder as I think it will be a good drill for my lesser skilled shooting partners to track performance with and for me to strive for a 300.
