Just the firing pin block spring captured by the plate. When you remove the plate, just do it slowly or in a bag as you said.

Yup, slowly, found the spring, kept it in place. Good thing I had that 3rd arm installed when I was a kid; came in really handy trying to keep the t-pieces in place, the spring in place, and the plate centered until I could get it all together and screwed down!

Just use a little bit of masking tape on the back the plate to hold the T nuts in place as long as you place the tape in a way that it will not get pinched between the slide and plate. Then just remove the tape when you're done.
