Vise Block for AR10 muzzle device change

Have an AR10 .308 Aero Precision upper I want to swap out muzzle devices on. I have a basic vise grip but need a block or clamp like tool to do this without hurting the rifle.

Armorers, what tool do you recommend to hold the upper without damaging the finish? Many of the clamps on Brownell's et al only specify AR15.

    Thanks.

Leave the upper out of it. Hold the barrel.

I use the Geissele Reaction Rod. It's milled flat on the sides for holding in the vice. It's a bit expensive just to change out a muzzle device.

If the current device has not been locatite or rocksett on then padded soft vice jaws should be ok. Use a toilet paper tube to help not mar the finish.

I don't recommend this for a barrel change but for a muzzle device it should work well and it can be used for holding an upper for other work also.

We could isolate Russia totally from the world and maybe they could apply for membership after 2000 years.

I clamped two 2x4 chunks together tightly and bored a hole down the center. That wrapped around the barrel and clamped tightly in a vise does the trick and cost me nothing.

I only use that for barrel devices.
