    Blade Oil

Just curious what products(s) we like for blade care? I was informed I’m about to receive a DE Dynamis Blade as a gift and the common guidance seems to be that CPM3V likes to pit a little if not oiled.

While a humbling gift, it will be most definitely be used so something safe for food handling and preparation would be preferred. My initial though was froglube only because it’s known to me.

I've used mineral oil on my carbon steel knives (ESEE, Old Hickory, etc) for the last decade or so. It's worked well.

The mineral oil you get at walmart or the drug store (laxative) is more than sufficient for maintaining blades. I don't use it for pivots as it's a bit thick...but any light machine oil, gun oil or anything else will be just fine.

I have been using a 3V fixed blade around the house as a utility knife for years and it has shown no propensity to rust.

I use RemOil spray for cleaning and lubricating my Microtech OTF, as recommended by the manufacturer. It’s good stuff.

But, for blades that will touch food, I use light cooking oil.
