Sucks.
Sucks.
My father was a huge fan. As a kid, I used to sometimes ride with him on 10+ hour road trips (18 wheeler).
My main job was to rewind and switch the cassettes out of the radio. Charlie's music was part of many good moments for us.
Last saw him at the Grand Ole Opry back in 2013. Could still put on a great show.
Saw him play a casino tears ago.
It was the only time he played a venue relatively close to me.
Glad I made it.
The first part of the show was just about straight up rock and roll
with Daniels playing electric guitar. The fiddle mostly came in the
second part of the show. All worth the listening.
I thought he was going to last till age 100.
This is sad..Charlie had an immense amount of talent, and a voice of pure gold.. Blue skies are following you now, Charlie, we’ll see you on the flip side..R.I.P.
He and his band played for the US Military while I was in Iraq 2006. He was unbelievable. They played a very long set then did an extended encore - he was a ball of energy and I think he wore his band out. When they finally quit playing, he stayed for a very long time signing autographs and talking to Soldiers. My GAARNG Infantry BN was nicknamed Devils and he got a big kick for playing for the Devils from Georgia. I will never forget that event.
When the CDB played in late '78, I realized that I had missed Lynyrd Skynyrd in the same venue just over a year before because I was busy, or most likely, drunk; it was their last show. Seemed like a good idea to see Charlie Daniels and not take it for granted. I am very glad that I did. I found the ticket stub cleaning out my mother's house last year.
RIP, Charlie Daniels.
I’ll play “Uneasy Rider” on my drive home.
