    Tomcat Tales

This documentary on the F-14 and its pilots came out today— I rented it and really enjoyed it.

It costs a few bucks to rent (or buy), but I thought it was worth it.

I've always likened listening to Tomcat drivers the same as listening to people who own Harleys and British sport cars.

Shit's always broke. The former tends to kill you rather than leave you behind from the group, though.

I'm guessing this documentary was worth it given your endorsement, however!

This is a lot of listening to the pilots tell stories...but I grew up hanging out at the airport and listening to stories, and have always enjoyed it.

Somebody Actually calls the F-14 the Harley Davidson of fighters in the documentary.

No matter how janky an airplane is, it’s still not a helicopter.

An old coworker was an avionics tech on the F-14. He said it was just like a high performance race car. When it ran there was nothing else like it, but it spent a lot of time in the pit. He was also of the opinion that the engineers who designed it didn't do so with the notion that anyone would have to work on the thing.
