I prefer wide loop spacing for more stability. This limits me to pull the dot loops, which add minimal bulk even when directly over the gun. Furthermore, if I am using an open front concealment garment, there is no danger of the front wing becoming exposed.

I carry at the 3:30 position, and find a 10 degree cant to be ideal for me for guns up to a Glock 19.

For OWB, I tried the JMCK OWB2 (10 degree cant) and the Tenicor ARX for my Glock 19.

On me, the OWB2 is just perfect. It really tucks the grip in well, and is 90% as concealable as IWB for me with a G19 (the trickiest part for IWB is bending over).

I really like the ARX design and construction, but it just didn't carry quite as well. If it works for you I'd choose it over the JMCK, if only because of the simple and rugged design. And it's more in the "hotness" category. Similarly, the Tenicor Certum3 looks like a pretty sweet, highly-adjustable IWB option.

I now primarily use a JMCK Wing Claw 2.0 for AIWB carry, and the 34-length has been a game changer. I no longer need to attach a wedge, and it's more comfortable than the G17-length I used previously. The wide hole pattern keeps the gun from shifting position.

OWB - My go to is the RCS Perun. Cheap, fully ambidextrous, retention is excellent, and easily adjustable cant by mounting the loops differently. The loops are solid though, so it requires threading each time. It's also relatively high riding, which I like, concealing in a geezer plaid shirt. www.rcsgear.com

IWB - My usual IWB now is a JM CK IWB 3, 15 degree cant, full guard, PTD loops, wide pattern, in pf orange. I just ordered another one for my P365XL (I think that's the third one I've ordered from Tony.) Fit is excellent, craftsmanship outstanding. www.jmcustomkydex.com

Clip - I like the DSG Apollo I bought for my LCR. Excellent fit and retention, steel clip is very robust, straight drop mount was perfect out of the box for me. www.darkstargear.com.

This is great info, thanks folks. Lots of old-busted appears to still be pertinent, and there's some new-hotness I wasn't aware of. Just capturing some links for anyone in my boat that's following along. For the rest of you, let me know what I get wrong.

    IWB Recommendations

    OWB Recommendations

    Glossary of Terms
    • DCC = Discrete Carry Concepts (maker of metal holster attachment clips with under-hooks for improved holster retention)
    • DSG = Dark Star Gear (kydex holster maker)
    • JMC/JMCK = JM Custom Kydex (kydex holster maker)
    • Monoblock = metal clip made by DCC that matches hole-pattern of common plastic holster clips but with improved durability and retention.
    • PTD = Pull the Dot (soft loops with one-directional snaps that allow easy on/off of the holster while still offering good security)
Does the above offend? If you have paid to be here, you can click here to put it in context.

Asking, not telling here... does Dale Fricke's stuff belong anywhere on this list? My go-to for IWB is an JMCK IWB #3 with PTD loops (already on the list), but I frequently hear good things about Fricke's products and often tempted by them.

I'm personally very excited about the Keepers Cornerstone. They took my favorite holster, the Keeper, and addressed the three things I don't like about it:
    • DCC clips instead of solid loops so it's tuckable.
    • DCC clips instead of solid loops so you can take it off without undoing your belt.
    • It costs $90 instead of $150.

If they had released Cornerstones for PX4s I would have bought one already.

I find the new DCC Monoblock clip to be slightly more stable than Pull-the-Dot loops on my Graith Speacialist belts. It seems to have somewhat less play with regard to cant angle. I'd recommend giving DCC hardware a try regardless of what kydex maker you decide on. They bring clip attachments to a whole new level of quality, and they're not too expensive to experiment with.

I'm currently trying to choose between JM Custom, Dark Star Gear, and Tenicore for my next IWB holster (for strong side carry).

The Tenicore looks to have maximum possible adjustment, but it doesn't have a full-height sweat guard as an option for SS IWB specific holsters presently. I like a full guard height.

Dark Star Gear looks to have the minimal footprint while still providing a ton of adjustment and lots of hardware options. I'm not sure if the Monoblock clip works with their hole spacing though.

JM has been my go-to for a while now. I really like the IWB 3, but it doesn't offer much modular adjustment or hardware options. As I am moving to a new brand/model of pistol, I'm not sure of optimal cant/height for this holster. The "wedge" option is molded in too, so it's also less adjustable in this regard. JM is top quality though, so I'm tempted to just stick with what's been working. Sometimes less is more.

I like the Dark Star Gear Dark Wing a lot. I put it on the JMCK Wing Claw 2.5, with a V Development Group wedge since the material doesn't squish flat in 3 months like others I've used.

Edit: I have also had no complaints with the IWB-3 with wide spaced soft loops, for a G45.

My vote goes to Jm custom iwb3 for behind the hip. I carry at 3:30-4 with 10-15 degree cant all day with no issues. It’s the most comfortable and least bulky holster I’ve found for that method of carry.

A bit off-topic, but this was my favorite wedge as well. Unfortunately V Dev Gru stopped selling these a while back in favor of the DSG Teardrop Muzzle Pad. Has anyone used the Teardrop? How does it compare to the standard wedges?
