The Olight Odin, follow this PF affiliate link. I got my advance light Saturday and it's extremely impressive. What really impressed me is the engineering behind the mount. You attach the mount to your rifle and then you can easily swap between two positions. The light is magnetically charged via a USB cable. It's advertised as having 2000 lumens with a 300 meter throw. I found that it's about 90% of a Surefire DF600's illumination, but...for $121 you get this light, the mount, and a pressure switch. In other words, everything you need.
It's a no brainer purchase for someone whom needs a good carbine/PDW light.
Edited to add more comparison data between this and the Surefire M600DF.
The two lights alongside each other. The Olight is .95” wide on the body, the Surefire is .85”. I need to order an SF ring mount, see if the Olight will fit.
The Olight weighs more because of the higher capacity battery it comes which is a 3.6v 21700 5000MaH. The SF has a 3.7v 18650 3400 MaH battery.
If you had longer hex screws, you could attach the Surefire to the Olight mount on the weapon. Both lights ship with a Picatinny rail attachment.
Both lights disassembled as far as I could get them broken down. I’m asking Olight for more details on their emitter and how to get it off.
The Olight gives you the option of rear switch or pressure switch as shipped, no need to buy a pressure switch separately; this is a huge budgetary advantage for those of you not ready to shell out $120 for a SF pressure switch. The read switch also vibrates when first activated as to so warn you of a potential light ND (negligent discharge). Note the elegant simplicity of the attachment method of the pressure switch.
The Olight fits Surefire Scout pattern mounts such as the Thorntail offset mount!
