Satterberg said he won’t pursue any charges related to assaults on police officers until he sees all available video footage including from body-worn cameras.

“Frankly, there was bad conduct on all sides,” he said. “A case like this, a trial like this, would be necessarily a review of the conduct and force that was used by all parties.”

And he said he’s reluctant to add to the 5,000 felony cases already backlogged in King County Superior Court due to the pandemic. The county just resumed its first jury trial this week, questioning potential jurors remotely.

“We have huge numbers of cases to resolve and we don’t need political show trials that involve protests and pushing back and forth on a police line,” Satterberg said.

He said he’d rather start looking at policy solutions being demanded by protesters.

To me that's the biggest problem. The idiots that elected these idiots are going to be moving to better places. My money is on the fact that they're too stupid to have learned their lessons.

This area has too many people anyway. I would like to drive thru the metro area without the 1-2 hour delay. I don't handle grid lock very well.

We occasionally make the trip to the Olympia area as my MIL lives there. Goggles says it's 2 hrs and 125 miles from our house. It's actually more like 3 hrs. That's 40 mph average. Who the hell wants to spend an additional 2 hours (round trip) in traffic? Some people do it everyday. This study found that the average Seattle commuter lost 138 hours a year due to congestion. I have no reason to think that isn't accurate.

"SEATTLE, WA — A team of federal agents arrived in Seattle Thursday night, sparking concerns from local leaders that a situation could develop akin to the ongoing violence in Portland. "

Looks like it could be an active weekend in Seattle.

They probably want to make sure they can defend the federal building in Seattle. There is a 50% larger federal presence in Seattle. I expect at some point this summer the protests (riots) will be much larger here. The police chief here (Carmen Best) would control the riots if the mayor and council would allow her to do her job. Too damn bad she isn't the mayor.

I hear ya. The City Council ought to get busy with their Community Led Public Safety, for the people and businesses in downtown Seattle, like in Minneapolis:

    https://theappeal.org/minneapolis-ci...public-safety/

On Sunday afternoon, a veto-proof majority of Minneapolis City Council members announced their commitment to disbanding the city’s embattled police department, which has endured relentless criticism in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, on May 25.

“We’re here because we hear you. We are here today because George Floyd was killed by the Minneapolis Police. We are here because here in Minneapolis and in cities across the United States it is clear that our existing system of policing and public safety is not keeping our communities safe,” Minneapolis City Council President Lisa Bender said Sunday. “Our efforts at incremental reform have failed. Period.”

EDIT - Looks like they have:

    https://mynorthwest.com/1928707/seat...ce-department/

Seattle City Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda called for an inquest into the police department’s budget Monday, and to eventually use half of that money to invest back into other community programs.

“We have done many of things to reform our public safety efforts, but what we’re hearing right now is that our residents don’t feel safe from our own police,” Mosqueda said in Monday morning’s council briefing.

I feel genuinely sorry for the good folks who have to endure what's coming. But what do they say, you get the Policing you elect...

I binge-read Marko Kloos' Front Lines series a few months back. His scenario of contained welfare cities with two tiers of service and mobility (defined by financial resources) and the less-moneyed being kept where they were physically by force seems to be prescient, rather than science fiction now.

That's with the big bugs! IIRC, when the big bugs landed in the poor areas ,they were on their own - with little central government help.

What does Seattle want? Old school skirmish lines with advancing batons and a lot more stick time? Exactly what OC/CS/Less Lethal were developed to avoid. Genius.
