Davidson: ‘Abolish The Police’ Is A Slogan For The Destruction Of America

These are not calls to reform the police, to make any of the necessary changes to things like qualified immunity laws or police union privileges—changes that would make a real difference and make police more accountable. Such reforms enjoy broad public support and could be passed if local officials were willing to stand up to police unions. But calls to abolish the police are not about police reform. They are not about fighting for dignity and equal treatment for black Americans. They are not about ending the violence and disorder now gripping our cities. They are not about preserving or restoring an open and liberal society. They are about power. And once the police are out of the way, those who called for abolishing them intend to wield it.

    Pretty much agree. ^^^.

Personally I think it’d be a complete shitshow if they do that. I would feel sorry for people who live there.

But on the other hand, a small part of me kinda would actually like to see this actually happen somewhere. The folks in charge of these jurisdictions got picked by a majority of citizens voting. So if these city council’s decide to defund the police, they are getting the Government they asked for. Good luck with that.

De Blasio took to Twitter at 11:20 a.m. saying: "This morning we committed to move resources from the NYPD to youth and social services as part of our City’s budget. Our young people need to be reached, not policed. We can do this AND keep our city safe."

You go ahead and do that. Pull that pendulum further back.

Just don't be surprised that when it is released and starts swinging, it sails a lot further than you anticipated.

The only thing he's proven capable of is flapping his gums and being incompetent.
There's nothing civil about this war.

This week Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, announced the city would be slashing the police department’s budget by $100 to $150 million and instead “reinvesting in black communities and communities of color.”
Has there ever been a case where cutting the police budget resulted in a drop in crime?
We could isolate Russia totally from the world and maybe they could apply for membership after 2000 years.

    Might could've worked in Jonestown.

Yeah, this will end well. Sharia law in some of the neighborhoods perhaps?

On Sunday afternoon, a veto-proof majority of Minneapolis City Council members will announce their commitment to disbanding the city’s embattled police department, which has endured relentless criticism in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, on May 25.

“Our commitment is to do what is necessary to keep every single member of our community safe and to tell the truth that the Minneapolis Police are not doing that,” Bender said Sunday. “Our commitment is to end our city’s toxic relationship with the Minneapolis Police Department, to end policing as we know it, and to recreate systems of public safety that actually keep us safe.”
