Yes, it can lead to radical solutions. Most likely outcome though is the square deal or the new deal as the status quo looks to make peace with, and defuse, the radical by redressing some of the inequity in exchange for retaining power. Or not. Who knows?
I hope you are right. I want solutions. Not radical experiments. Neither in libertarianism (really feudalism under a new label) or communism.

As manny have mentioned, there are a lot of pressures on officers today. Not to get the whole firefighter - police officer thing started, but at least in my area we still staff fire departments like Mrs. O'Leary's cow is still kicking over lanterns, despite advances in alarm technology, building codes, etc. Meanwhile, it seems police departments have been given more to do, without significant increases in manpower.

As a result, in most medium to large-sized departments officers essentially go from call-to-call. They have little time for 'beat management' the process of getting to know folks other than offenders and their victims and developing relationships with residents, businessmen and clerks, in order to better serve them, and the community.
But Dan, it's all about the data!

Don't you realize all problems from crime to marital disharmony can be solved by objective data analysis which leads to data-driven solutions that don't depend on nebulous delusions like the importance of human relationships? I'll bet that book BBI is pushing on police/community relations is full of mushy-headed crap about human communication, not reading the data and imposing solutions!

Feelings lie, data prophesies! (PF in- joke 100% intentional. I gotta get on a damn timer. I own one. I don't like what it tells me.)

The proceeding is DEFINITELY not a stealth screed for a Butlerian Jihad.

And that is not a stealth advertisement for an upcoming movie. That would be against forum rules.

Increasing control to a very small group backed by the most sophisticated propaganda campaigns ever is not a model that can continue forever. Now whether that end comes within the year, or decades after my death is beyond my ability to grok. I just know some trends can't extend forever.

Speaking of unsustainable trends, I think we are seeing the beginning of the end of ever-increasing college tuition cycle. COVID 19 ain't all bad.
We're not fighting (and losing) a total war. We also, all hyperbole aside, don't have a state centered on the person of a single, official autocratic and hereditary ruler.

Personally, comparing our country to something like 1917 Russia or 1932 Germany is personally irritating- it's not the same.

Unchecked, it is a trend leads to "radical solutions."

Clinging to Kipling in the Singularity may not work out well.
I believe that this whole income inequity thing that we are seeing is a cyclical thing in the USA. If you go back a number of generations to say the industrial revolution, you will see an incredibly skewed wealth distribution. That distribution then gets a bit more centralized and goes out of whack again as other folks/industries take over the reigns and consolidate their wealth. It sucks, I agree 100%, but for this who have not had first hand experience with the other end of the coin I can guarantee you the other sucks worse. The wealth gap under Communism/Socialism is far worse than anything the USA has EVER experienced. It goes down to not just wealth and leisure money, but bare necessities. Thats what these imbeciles don't understand, don't want to believe. What they also refuse to believe is that the USA is still one of the very few places on this planet where folks can transition form the ghettoes to the financial stratosphere. Where else can an imbecilic liberal come up with the idea of a chat space that steals personal information and become a billionaire?

The radical solutions they want will get many of them killed as soon as they realize this isn't what the signed up for. But then more often than not, Karma is a biotch.

Sounds right. Might become a trend.
In the P-F basket of deplorables.

You and me both, brother! All things considered, if things go sideways, I don't think either will be the United States' dark outcome anyways. Scudder 2024 on the other hand... That or a shattering.

    Good for them.

One bright spark in all this: recent events have finally cured my youngest son of any desire to pursue a career in law enforcement.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......

I've actively discouraged my son from having any interest in this job. I'd rather he play piano at the whorehouse.

Watch the old guy's right hand closely. This was not innocuous. He's attempting to either record the police tactical belt, and/or skim the radio... Watch it a few times; you'll see.
    From another valid source:

I've watched this about a hundred times now.
Dude wasn't pushed hard enough to fall IMHO.
Dude appears to be reaching for something on the officer's belt, or as one theory goes was trying to get his phone close enough to the radio to scan the freq and clone it.
Dude has a history of getting arrested and bragging about it.
Dude is not a confused grandfatherly type who just got caught up in the fray, he put himself there, on purpose.
This smells like he took a dive.
