The Union has already stepped in and said that on-duty police motorcycles won't be used for the funeral procession. What they can't stop is the funeral home hiring off-duty officers to handle the escort. No doubt they won't have a problem finding someone to run that escort if they're paying enough money.

I’m not taking up for the Chief, but with the procession going through yall’s city the PD is going to be there anyway. He did an awfully bad job at running down protestors since he swerved from one and stopped, not hitting anyone.

You make a good point, the state announced at around 4:40 that they were closing all freeways at 5pm so I could definitely see a situation where this guy was already on the road and wasn't aware of the situation. There is a big curve right before the stretch where the protestors were so it's possible he didn't recognize that there were people on the road until it was too late

Edit: Crowd around the corner from us - they moved onto the highway and are looping back. Fortunately, their departure from the area gave CPD and the University PD a chance to beef up presence in the area. The street they are trying to target is 1-block south of me (and was the scene of some looting last night). It is a major, recently developed, area of the neighborhood. And has a lot of businesses.

I was told we are above name calling and we should act like it. Is this guy a bad citizen? Does he engage in immoral activities? "Garbage " is borderline racist. Is he a bad husband or father? Perhaps he is doing the best he can at his skill level. It might be a job no one else wants. Have his children been told of his scumbaged-ness? How about his Pastor? I'm guessing it has nothing to do with his political views? How would one feel being describe as a "scumbag of the highest order" If he is doing the best he can following his belief system based on hid life experience?
