According to BladeHQ, the Hogue X1 is American made. Like you, I thought all of Hogues stuff was domestically produced.

Every Hogue knife I've looked at has been made in the USA.
    I own both a X1 and a OTF auto.

Their website shows made in the USA.

I trust Hogue's website more than I do some random Amazon seller.
That Amazon description may be correct because there's about a 50% chance it's a Chinese made rip-off.

BladeHQ lists every single Hogue knifes country of origin as USA and the Hogue brand is in their "American Made Knives" category.
On BladeHQ's YouTube they did a tour of the Hogue knife making facility as well.

Spend $8-$10 more and buy from a reputable knife dealer and avoid getting counterfeits especially with popular knives like Benchmade and Spyderco...... Hogue may be there too.

I've done a metric ton of food prep with Griptilians and a 940, and never had an issue. Like literally years of it. Imagine a knuckle-dragging single dude without any proper kitchen cutlery, and that's me. Veges, meat, cheese, condiments, you name it. I wash 'em using the same protocol we used to clean electric knives when I worked in a salmon processing plant - extremely hot water....
Yeah, I been to culinary school, where dishwashing knives was a no-no...I have done food prep with folders, too. Not seen an issue. A couple of my high end kitchen knives (literally) had issues after a decade or so of being tossed in the dish washer, but they are tools, to be replaced as needed. All my knives go through the dishwasher, regularly, and two have had problems. The problems were minor, and I have not replaced them yet.

Also, I carry a few knives at work that go through the dishwasher every few months or so, sanitize setting, no detergent, just for piece of mind as I carry them. I quit worrying about using folders for food prep when I stopped dissassembling them for occasional cleaning, litterally decades ago. It seems that the detergent and rinse aides are more damaging to materials in quality knives than the water and temp....
