It reads like he was very lucky the second shot missed.

But who puts on a vest to walk their dog?
I can say with certainty there are some officers who do not arm themselves off duty. The percentages likely vary regionally and by age, etc. but they absolutely do exist. My former partner is one.

There's also the guys who don't gun up for a quick trip outside.

I have a marked car in my driveway. If I'm awake not in water, I'm armed.
Sorta around sometimes for some of your shitty mod needs.

Part of me always buys into noting how great American police are, that so often these guys wind up getting arrested and put on trial.

And yet, the rest is always so pleased at the no-trial outcome when some asshole that attempted to assassinate a public official, murder a cop, assault one of the foundations of our civil society, or whatever combination of the three enrages you the most.

Heres to hoping the officer in question makes a complete recovery. As we all know, even a gunshot you walk away from can do some life-changing damage.

Seriously dude, get a dry bag! 🤣. I’ve got a pool and I carry “off body” even out there.

However I do not eat cereal out there. Pizza, burgers and wings? Yes.

I know. I'm referring to the dichotomy between the rational part of my psyche that rah-rahs all the rule of law stuff, and the 95% that runs the show. That dude earned the smoke-check he got.
