I'm amazingly clueless about China. This podcast with John Huntsman made me smarter by several orders of magnitude
Well, in my defense I never did use the word "Left." That said, living where I live where the Dems/Left hold absolute control of state law, I am thoroughly convinced they want a socialist paradise like China with them on top. While I will give you the benefit of the doubt that when push comes to shove that there are some unicorns on the "left" that will stand up and defend freedom, I concede that there are enough on the "right" who want their own form of tyranny that they will more than make up for the unicorns. Thus I stand by my 50% estimate.
I realize that PF may be one of the more moderate gun boards out there and I like that, and I don't want to play team politics. All that said, as the son of immigrants who saw the commies kill millions, then the Nazi's kill millions (while being guests in their labor camps) - they taught me their first hand experiences of both left and right extremism. With this perspective it always seemed quizzical to me to see the Nazi's become the embodiment of evil while the "left" in this country gave an essential pass to communism and if they acknowledged some of the deaths, they simply attributed it to the Russian barbarian tendencies of Stalin (despite the fact he wasn't even Russian). Obviously communism would work if it had taken root in a more civilized part of the world? I still hear such tripe to this day.
My own senator has made BILLIONS (well technically her husband has) off of business dealings with Communist China and she is given a pass. Could you imagine such a pass given to a senator making billions off of dealings with Apartheid South Africa? This is the same woman who is on point at every opportunity to take away semi automatic firearms from the American people.
So yes - when it comes to our inability to contain Communist China and a sincere desire to disarm the American populace - I put the lions share of the blame on one side of the aisle. When the 5 neo-nazi's hiding up in Idaho take over the Republican party and start disarming the Jews and the Blacks you can be damn sure I will happily heap a load of Sh*t or lead on them as well.
My Army Issue NOMAX tanker pajamas are on so fire away....
No need at all, brother. We're both from families that suffered greatly at the hands of Russians / Soviets and Nazis...it matters little to me whether we agree on the count of miscreants on either side of the aisle.
More important to me is that I know that were we called to arms to defend ourselves, our families or our shared country, we'd be fighting on the same side. Of that I have no doubt.
If anyone singes your p.j.'s, I'll gladly pony up for a new pair. Somehow I don't think anyone trying to do so will come away un-singed.
There's nothing civil about this war.

I'd have played with dolls if she was around when I was a kid...hell...who am I kidding? Now.

Look for the inflatable version, Blues.
Listened to the podcast - pretty interesting. How Taiwan will play out is a question. It will probably happen after my time. The need for us to return crucial manufacturing abilities to the USA is paramount. The comment that this is in conflict with some big Board of Directors' maximizing profits has been discussed before. Just remember, if we go to war with China over something, in the current world - 70% of our medicine goes away. That takes care of me, probably.
