Unless they moved the slide lock forward, I still won't care. But if they did and it's still a paddle mag release, well I may just sell my my VP9LE OR to fund it.

Isn't a G19 a compact size already so it's a compact size and not a G19 size in dimensions? It's a bit confusing and misleading when they call a compact a G19 size.

Got the RDSs mounted to the pistols last week and 1500 rounds of Speer Lawman ordered through SGAmmo arrived a couple of days ago. Time to hit the range.

First up - zero at 25 yards. These guns print 1” groups at 25 yards from a sandbag using 147 grain HST:

I’ve posted even smaller groups with a VP9L OR equipped with a Steiner MPS. Those groups are comparable to what I get from a semi-custom 1911 or Sig X-Five. They are noticeably superior to what my stock Glocks produce (usually 2-3” at 25 yards).

I then ran some 6” steel challenge plates from deep concealment (it’s 37 degrees this afternoon). Unfortunately, I do not yet have an AIWB OR holsters, so it was time to dust off an old JM OWB2 that would accommodate a RDS. By the end of the session, I was consistently clearing the rack at 15 yards in 5.1-5.2 seconds; my 4 o’clock draw from a coat + hoodie is rusty at 2-2.2 seconds since transitioning to AIWB. I’m still much faster with a Glock or 1911 but I’m starting to get used to the VP9 trigger.

Each gun got 25 rounds each of 124 grain Speer Lawman, 147 grain Speer Lawman, and 147 grain HST (preferred carry load). No failures except for a single instance of failure to lock-back caused by me riding the slide release with the VP9SK.

Total round counts through each gun - 150

    50 rounds 147 grain HST
    50 rounds 124 grain S&B
25 rounds 147 grain Speer Lawman
25 rounds 124 grain Speer Lawman

I'll bet they don't shoot 1 inch groups with me behind the trigger. Seriously though I am not sure why VP9's don't get more love.

Back to the range again with a few pistols including the VP9 and VP9SK. Each gun got 50 rounds of 124 grain Lawman; mostly spent running Bill Drills at 10 yards. Four instances of failure to lock back the slide with the SK caused by my thumb riding the slide release. No FTF or FTE. The CHPWS plate on the VP9 running a Holosun seems to be doing fine; witness marks on the screws have not budged. The extended magazines on the SK give my hand a slight pinch while firing and will pinch the shit out of me during reloads unless I make a conscious effort to keep my hypothenar region away from the magwell. I do not have this issue with a Glock 26 with any mag…

Total round counts through each gun - 200

75 rounds 124 grain Speer Lawman
    50 rounds 147 grain HST
    50 rounds 124 grain S&B
25 rounds 147 grain Speer Lawman

    Great shooting.

Not OR, but I dug up this old pic from 2015 with my first VP9. 25 yard bench with irons, 6 o'clock hold on the black. Love the accuracy.

I want to see what we can do with my daughters' VP9SK OR versions.

I’m well over 30k rounds through my “beater” VP9L with SRO, and that thing has literally never once malfunctioned. Pulled the optic in December when I was dealing with what turned out to be a Duracell problem, and the plate screws were spot on where they started in 2020. Reinstalled the optic and it’s still going strong.

Well used, sometimes abused (Gunsite 499’s can be tough on optic mounts) but rock solid, and still makes one ragged hole at 25 yards off the bench on the original O-ring.

The only weakness is the finish on the slide. Lots of silver showing but zero corrosion.

50 more 124 grain Lawman shot with both the VP9 (Holosun EPS) and VP9SK (Holosun SRS). Most was shot doing Bill Drills at 7 yards from concealment OWB at 3:30 position. Of note, 90% of my shooting for the past years has been from AIWB, so my OWB is a bit rusty. My JMCK Wing Claw 2.5 Optics Cut has been ordered but not arrived. Regardless, I was able to pull off a personal best all-A zone hits with an HK using the VP9-EPS combo from OWB at 7 yards at 2.49 seconds; I often drop a Charlie when pushing things from OWB concealment under 2.5 seconds. I’m anywhere between 0.2-0.4 seconds slower with the SK due to it being harder to build a grip and find the dot.

There were no feeding or extraction issues. I had 2 instances of failure to lock back with both guns likely due to my grip breaking down a little with the fast (for me) pace of shooting.

Total round counts through each gun - 250

125 rounds 124 grain Speer Lawman
    50 rounds 147 grain HST
    50 rounds 124 grain S&B
25 rounds 147 grain Speer Lawman

Best of luck. I've had several shoot loose, across multiple pews and plates, with multiple occurrences, with varying methods of installation always to torque specifications (trust me, I more than know how to make a secure threaded attachment).

I walked away from the enclosed optic and went to a RMR footprint, using OEM plates, and no issues at all.

At this point, I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-4 cases put though VP9OR's
Providing 100% refunds on free products. Check will be sent out tomorrow.
