Speer 9mm 124 gr Lawman TMJ was $183.80 in Sep 2019. Yesterday it was $269.80. Both prices from SG Ammo.

And to make it worse, Federal 9mm 147 +P HST was $17.50/box in Apr 2017. Today on Gunbroker, $65/box plus shipping. :-(
9x19 ball and 9x17 ball are basically the same price/round right now. Kind of makes buying anything but .22 less than appealing.

Anybody have a line on reasonably priced 5.56? Either FMJ and defense loads.

I have way more than enough 9mm ball, so not likely to buy more handgun ammo aside from a few boxes of JHPs.

"Reasonably priced" is a pretty mushy term nowadays. Take a look at the Mrgunsngear Facebook page. Like his YouTube videos or not, he usually posts links to some good deals.

Lucky Gunner has Tula steel-cased for $0.24/rnd case of 1000

The going rate for .223/5.56mm ball ammo seems to be hovering around .40 cents a round right now. Plus shipping and taxes. Steel case can be had a bit cheaper, but is less available it seems. Target Sports has this stuff (.223) currently in stock, but their shipping lead times are long IIRC: https://www.targetsportsusa.com/targ...-p-110563.aspx

SG Ammo as 55gr Gold Dot in stock... a bit expensive, at ~$1/round or so: https://www.sgammo.com/product/223-5...otection-ammo-

I had plans to order a case or two of 5.56mm about the time this panic kicked off... now I'm trying to figure out how to get 2500-3000 pieces of LC 5.56 brass proccessed and crimp swaged instead, and feed it to my Dillon.

If you have Prime at TS-USA, at time of posting, they have cases of TulAmmo for 211.14 USD plus tax, while the cheapest brass is 321.95 USD, TS-USA brand but supposedly loaded at Lake City. Their shipping times seem pretty variable, some of my stuff has taken a month to arrive, others in less than a week.

If you don't have Prime and are interested in getting an order, PM me and we can work something out.

Target Sports and Lucky Gunner both have brass 5.56 for 40¢/rd before tax and shipping. That’s likely the best you’ll see for a while.

I don't think it's a good idea to refrain from buying ammo right now if you need any....it's going to get more expensive until the election, possibly longer if R doesn't hold the presidency.
This. Based upon an abundance of caution, I am working on the presumption that the November election may well be a disaster for firearms owners’ rights, and had planned upon buying a substantial amount of fresh ammo this Spring. The IRS bite was worse than anticipated, and then COVID. Sigh. Well, I managed to refresh buckshot, to a never-better level.
