Another pillar of the community gone but not forgotten.
Word reached me this morning that Galen D. "Chuck" Taylor lost his long battle with cancer May 5, 2020.
Rest in Peace Chuck.

2020 is one heck of a crummy year. I read a lot of Chuck Taylor's writing as he was an early advocate of the long slide for defense shooting. He introduced me to the G17L. Of course, there was the famous 350,000 round G17.
2020 is a personal worst for me by a large and huge margin. Chuck Taylor’s passing adds on top.
Chuck with my oldest son (then 16) approximately 10 years ago.
An old post here on the Forum where I shared details of a conversation I had with Chuck about his involvement in training James Caan for the movie Thief.

Chuck say hello to Col. Cooper for me. I never got to meet him and wish I had. (I'm going to assume you guys can bury the hatchet up there.)
RIP
2020 truly SUCKS & Fcuk Cancer
Don’t blame me. I didn’t vote for that dumb bastard.
Damn.
I always loved reading his articles, his stories and tales of his service. We are lesser now for his absence.

Full disclosure per the Pistol-Forum CoC: I am the author of Quantitative Ammunition Selection.
I attended a class taught by Jeff Cooper and Chuck Taylor back in the 80's, courtesy of Uncle Sugar. I came away with a lot of respect for Chuck and a rather strong dislike for Cooper. Like many of my generation, I cut my shooting teeth on his stories, along with Skeeter Skelton and the like. He'll be missed.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......
*sigh*
I agree that 2020 is going to be one for the record books. This is sad news.
